Recycle

FYI - We are (have been) recycling again :) We do have to take it to a recycling "center", which is a recycle dumpster at IGA or by the landfill, or in Morning Sun, I think...that one is pretty vague. Anyways, I just wanted to hit on the fact that "green" is still very much a part of our plan.

Our House, Our Home

http://yourmemoriesbymandy.weebly.com/
Here we are, a relaxing Sunday morning before a relaxing Sunday day! The weekend before now has been a busy weekend of visiting with friends who dared to make the long drive out here, and back, to see us. It's weird how our apartment life seems so far behind us now - a closed door that I dare not forget but care not to open again. Since we moved in, nearly two months ago, we've been able to have family and friends over to visit and even stay overnight. Our open house brought thirty-nine people into our house, comfortably! We (I'm sure I can speak for all of us here) absolutely love having the space and the surroundings to enjoy having guests, which was not the case in our apartment. I also appreciate knowing that we have still have good ties with friends and family, even after the years that we did not see much of them because of our apartment. It is so nice to have people over, to cook outside and sit on the porch in good weather, or sit inside when we feel like it, to have a campfire and roast marshmallows, and to walk and talk, all at our home.

I would also like to say how grateful I am to all of the people who have gifted us items for our home! A grill, tool chests, Nana and Ga's bookcase, gift cards, pictures, tools, patio furniture, exercise equipment, flowers, food, dressers, a beautiful quilt wall hanging, lawn mowers, a bathroom set, scrapbooking supplies, a shed, and whatever else I forgot! So many people have been so amazingly generous to help us with our new place, and we are so very thankful for that!

School starts this week for the kids. Hopefully the kids will love their schools and I need to finish cover letters and put my resume packages together for my area school visits/job hunt. So, I guess that summer is coming to a close and fall is beginning, and our schedule will change for the school year. Lots of stuff to do inside and outside the house still, but we have time. I'm looking forward to planting our trees soon, and cutting some old brush out. We still have a busy fall ahead, and we're looking forward to all there is to prepare our farm.

We're Here! We're Here!! We're Here!!!

Oh, my goodness! So long without a post so I need to at least throw a few lines down! We did get our house, the Blue House, after a drawn-out closing that included the new septic (which we still need to get the down-low about from the Health Inspector). Or, I guess I should just say WE GOT OUR HOUSE!! We love every inch of it, from the curvy driveway to the poor back yard. We closed and moved in on June 29th and have been SO busy ever since with moving, Aullwood, life, etc. I had a great summer teaching at Aullwood's summer camp, but the drive ends up being around an hour each way, which will have to be a consideration next year. We are mostly moved in and the space is very comfortable. Our crap-ton of living went from the tightly packed apartment and flowed into the open spaces of our two-story home, garage, and yard with much relief. Like pouring a five gallon bucket of water into an empty tub. Like releasing the air from a balloon into the atmosphere. Like cutting the ropes of the Griswold family Christmas tree. There is still so much to do, but not a lot that has to be done.

Professionally, I completed to process to become a substitute teacher at Preble County ESC, which covers many school districts in Preble County. I have updated my resume and created a cover letter template. The goal is full-time, so I'll drop off resumes and apply to sub at the remaining surrounding school districts, and then focus on other full-time work while we see where the school things go. The kids are registered in school - in fact, we just talked to Gage's counselor today and went to his open house :)  Which means the summer is going fast. I'm hoping to do some stuff with the kids before the season is completely gone, and we do have to/are excited to plant our trees this fall, must figure out the heater oil supply, and must figure out septic to we can make a plan to create our back yard.

Best things about living here so far:
Lots of room to live
Lots of outdoor space
Surrounding farms
Our new grill and, therefor, cooking out!
Our own campfires

I must close for now, but there will definitely be more to come. This is the new beginning we were waiting for, and the starting point for the rest of our life. Such a positive place in life to be, with plenty of undiscovered opportunities. Finally, life begins here at Marxwell's House and Fresh Eggs Farm!
