April Showers Bring May Showers

April was a very busy month...time to catch up without being too wordy :) I've enjoyed subbing at Greenmont several times in the past few weeks. So far I've taught kindergarten, first, and second grades in this role, and I really have enjoyed them all! Next week I will sub in Cora's class - that should be fun! And I have an interview with Oakwood for a music teacher position on Thursday. That should be interesting, and good practice. I've also kept busy throughout the month with free webinars and classes, as often as I can get them when I'm available. It's a great way to stay in the game and keep my brain in teacher mode. Montgomery County Solid Waste had an awesome Population Connection class with plenty of teacher materials, for free! I am big on community resources, and we are lucky to have so many in this area! Other highlights this month: Grandma's 96th at Aunt Barbara's house, visited Shelby's old roommate Le while he was in town, went through a round of dentist appointments, and finally made it to a Roberts family breakfast! We also attended a Dragon's game (thanks to MVP Drake!) and Marvin Garden's Think Green event, which was fun, informative, and productive, as we walked away with two Pawpaw trees and some reusable sandwich wraps, and, finally, a print version of Urban Farm Magazine (yay!)! The month ended with a short trip to Pittsburgh to drop off the hand-crank generator, Kait's birthday dinner at Spaghetti Warehouse, and Shelby's delicious chocolate souffle for Kait's birthday dessert! Grandma's flooding cellar has been the headache of the month, with the water getting high enough to knock out the pilot light, twice. A-Atherton was by this morning to estimate a sump pump. $1500...not sure if Grandma is going to go for that.

Our home-buying quest is still going. We are trying to get those last few points of our (when I say "our", I mean "Shelby's") credit up a hair more. Our lender is working so well with us, and we've been providing additional paperwork to try to keep things rolling...fingers crossed. It all seems like a LOST moment - waiting for the right door to open. Will it be the house? A new program? A different, never-thought-of twist of destiny? Who knows - stay tuned! It's close though - I can feel it.

May is here, and the calendar is pretty full already. Another Dragon's game, a trip to Duquesne (this trip with Annie, also, who is working out nicely, thank you very much!), and a commitment to a COSI trip with the kids are just a few things we have planned for the month ahead. I have a month to prepare for Aullwood classes and to get ready for summer - cannot believe how fast time flies!
Off to get things done - hope to be writing sooner next time!
